Subscription processes

Adding subscribers manually

Selecting the shareholders who take part, one by one — and why landing on an empty Transactions Setup afterwards is the correct outcome.

Overview

Manual selection decides who takes part, and nothing else. It creates no transactions. What each person is buying or selling comes afterwards, in Transactions Setup.

That separation is the one thing to understand before starting, because a team that has just selected five shareholders and lands on an empty Transactions Setup can reasonably think something failed. Nothing failed.

What you'll learn

  • When to choose this path over the bulk import

  • How to select the shareholders

  • What the dashboard should look like afterwards

When to choose this path

Manual selection suits a round with a handful of subscribers whose transactions you will configure by hand on the dashboard anyway.

It is the wrong choice when you already hold the transactions in a spreadsheet. In that case the bulk import brings the shareholders and their amounts in one step, and there is nothing left to type (A8.4).

Before you start

The company needs at least one shareholder. With none, the step shows "No shareholders available" and asks you to exit and add one or more shareholders to this company — manually, or via past events.

Steps

  1. Start a subscription from the project Dashboard (A8.2). In Subscription Process Setup, name the event and select Next to reach Choose Shareholders.

  2. Under How to add shareholders, choose Select manually.

  3. The Available Shareholders list appears. Select each shareholder who will take part.

  4. Select Next to reach Review Shareholders and confirm the list is right.

  5. Continue through Process Overview and Confirm & Launch, then select Start Process.

  6. You land on the Subscription Dashboard with your shareholders carried in, and no transactions yet.

What good looks like

The dashboard opens with the shareholders you chose present in the process, and Transactions Setup showing nothing configured. That is correct — this path deliberately separates who from what.

Common problems

A shareholder you expect is not in the list. Available Shareholders is drawn from the company's shareholders. If someone is missing, they are not yet a shareholder of this company. Leave the wizard, add them, and start again.

You selected the wrong people. Nothing is created until Start Process, so exiting and starting again costs nothing. After launch, changing the participant list is a more awkward operation.

You expected to enter amounts here. You do not. This step is only about who; the amounts belong to the transactions, configured on the dashboard afterwards.

You have both a selection and a file. Not on the same process — the two modes are exclusive. If you have a file, use A8.4.
