Company details
Reviewing and keeping a company's legal record current — a small page that matters because its fields are printed onto documents people sign.
Overview
Open a company and its Company Info view holds the record: the legal identity, the registration details, the category. Modify details is where you change them.
This is a small page that carries disproportionate weight, for one reason: these fields are injected into generated legal documents. A company's legal name here becomes its legal name on a subscription agreement or an order movement. It is not reference data — it is source data for paper that gets signed.
What you'll learn
Where a company's legal record lives, and how to change it
The four occasions that bring you here
What to check, and against what
Why correcting the record does not correct documents already generated
Why you will come here more than you expect
After a SIREN or KBIS creation. Both routes derive the legal details without showing you what they produced. This page is where you check them — it is the screen those lessons send you to.
When something changes at the company. A change of registered office, legal form or name. These are real events at real companies, and the record needs to follow.
Before documents are generated. If documents are about to be produced for this company, its details are about to be printed.
When a document comes out wrong. Fix the source here, then regenerate. Editing the document instead leaves the record and the paper disagreeing.
What to check
Legal name — exactly as it appears on the registration documents. This is the one that reaches paper.
Registration number — SIREN for a French company, registration number otherwise.
Legal form — SAS, SARL, Ltd, and so on.
Registered office address — where it changes, it changes on documents too.
Category — still right for what this company is in the structure.
The registration documents are authoritative. Check against them rather than against memory.
The category is not a commitment
The category — BidCo, ManCo and so on — is editable here. The creation screen said as much: it determines certain default settings and can be changed later.
So a category chosen quickly during creation can be corrected. If a company was set up as one thing and is really another, change it.
Corrections do not reach backwards
Correcting the record does not correct documents already generated from it. Fix the source, then regenerate.
The document and the register should never end up telling different stories — which is the same principle that applies to correcting a shareholder.
Common problems
A generated document has the wrong company name. Fix it here, then regenerate. Do not edit the document.
The details came from a lookup and nobody has checked them. That is exactly what this page is for.
A company's name has genuinely changed. Update it, and be aware that documents already generated keep the old name.
You are not sure whether a value is wrong or just unfamiliar. Check against the registration documents.
