Participant: KYC for a legal entity — the legal representative
The second half of a company's KYC check — who is authorised to act for it, their identity document, and the optional register of beneficial owners.
Overview
The second half of a company's KYC check. B1.9 covered the company; this covers the person authorised to act for it, and the optional register of beneficial owners.
The documents here are personal rather than corporate, so this part works comfortably on a phone.
What you need
Your identity document and proof of address, as legal representative
Optional: the company's register of beneficial owners
Steps
Legal representative information — state whether the legal representative is another company or a natural person. If it is a company, you will be asked for its full legal details and its role.
Legal representative's personal information — the details of the person holding legal authority, as they appear on their identity document.
Legal representative's identity document — upload the identity document of the person authorised to represent the company.
(Optional) Register of beneficial owners — this document lists the people who ultimately own or control the company. If you do not have it, you can skip this step.
Review and submit — read everything back, confirm, then finish.
Points to watch
The legal representative can be a company. That is the case where a holding company directs another company. The process allows for it: you enter the representing company, then the individual who acts for it.
The register of beneficial owners is optional here, but it is frequently requested afterwards by the compliance team. Providing it now avoids a round trip.
Common questions
Is it my identity document that is needed, or the company's? Both, across the two halves: the registration document for the company (B1.9), and your identity document as its legal representative here.
I do not have the register of beneficial owners. Skip the step; it is explicitly optional.
I am not the legal representative. Then this check is not yours to complete. The person with legal authority to bind the company has to do it, because their identity is part of what is being verified.
